Guidance & FAQ's

Effective Date: 1st August 2026

Our mission is to actively promote diverse voices within the Coaching and Coaching Research ecosystem.

This academic conference aims to showcase excellence in emerging coaching research and foster opportunities to network with coaching practitioners, and researchers at different stages of their academic journey.

Guidance

Coaching in the Round is a Coaching Research Conference, not a coaching conference. In 2027 it is hosted on Gadigal Country, so-called Australia, and creates space for Indigenous knowledge systems, relational learning and the diverse voices of the coaching research ecosystem.

We welcome PGRs, early career practitioners, Indigenous coaches, researchers and independent coaching practitioners. Contributions can be a research question, practice insight, conceptual argument or evidence-informed work, shared in a way that is clear, engaging, respectful and able to support discussion.

We encourage innovative initiatives that are actively enhancing culturally relevant coaching research, and topics of interest including, but not limited to:

  • Recent coaching research results and findings
  • Coaching research activities in progress
  • Proposed coaching research methodologies

Research Poster Guidance

The Research Poster Session is the foundation of the conference. A Research Poster is a coherent academic artefact that communicates your core ideas at a glance, while leaving room for interpretation, conversation and growth.

Research Posters will be displayed on a Screen at the in-person Poster Session on Day 1 of the conference, where researchers stand by their poster and speak with delegates.

The required size is A0 in landscape orientation (1189 × 841 mm, or 118.9 × 84.1 cm, approximately 46.81 × 33.11 inches). This also applies to posters that have been presented previously.

No printing is required!

What Makes a Strong Research Poster

  • Clarity: it can be understood quickly without losing scholarly depth.
  • Coherence: it holds together as a single academic argument or inquiry.
  • Relevance: it speaks directly to coaching research, not generic professional messaging.
  • Audience value: delegates can see what they will learn, question or take away.
  • Representation: the format feels like a genuine home for your work, not a forced fit.

Speaker, Workshop Facilitator and Panellist Guidance

We welcome proposals from anyone actively involved in Coaching Practice and/or Coaching Research who is interested in applying diverse research methodologies and frameworks. Sessions should be grounded in research, not general coaching practice.

When you submit, choose the format and session length that suit your contribution:

  • Conference speaker: 90 minutes
  • Conference panel topic: 60 minutes
  • Workshop facilitator: 60 minutes
  • Fireside Chats, Yarning Circle Convener or Other: 60 minutes

How to Submit

The call for contributors is open from 1st August to 1st November 2026. Proposals are submitted through the online submission form.

In your proposal, please:

  • give your submission title and preferred format;
  • select a primary pathway, and a secondary pathway if relevant;
  • summarise your research focus and explain why it fits the conference, citing your references;
  • list any co-authors or collaborators, who must agree to be named;
  • note any accessibility needs, Indigenous language use (including translation or interpretation required) and cultural protocol considerations; and
  • declare whether AI was used, and what you created yourself compared with what was AI-generated, including anything you kept, edited or rewrote from the Proposal Summary tool.
